Ambition is in our veins and responsible business lies in our DNA. With this in mind can you say that Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group is driven to achieve the objective of 100% eco labelled hotels. One of the eco-labels the group closely works together with is Green Key.
The Green Key award is a leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. This eco-label represents a commitment by businesses that their tourism establishments adhere to the strict criteria as stipulated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
In September 2015, the United Nations approved the Sustainable Development Goals to frame the global development agenda for the coming 15 years. Green Key has just agreed on new criteria that will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. 17 Goals and 169 targets are set by the UN to frame the global development agenda for the coming 15 years. The economic, social and environmental dimensions of the goals seek to address poverty, hunger, disease, fear and violence, education, healthcare, social protection, sanitation, safety, sustainable habitats and energy.
Our cooperation with Green Key is stronger than ever with currently 200+ hotels Green Key labelled. Inge Huijbrechts, Vice President Responsible Business says: ‘our ambition to have all hotels eco labelled needs the support of established eco labels worldwide. It is fantastic that our collaboration with FEE has been so fruitful. The new criteria set out by FEE will drive the sustainable development of our hotels and will contribute towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2015 – 2030’.
