On the beautiful sunny Sunday March 8th, over 130 employees and friends of The Rezidor Hotel Group planted 1,700 trees in the Sonian Forest, a green space that lies at the south-eastern edge of Brussels, Belgium.
For the 13th year in a row Rezidor’s Headquarters joined forces with seven Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels in Belgium to make a contribution to the environment and increase the flora of the Sonian Forest.
This year’s tree planting was a great success. Lumi, the firefly and mascot of Rezidor’s Think Planet energy and water savings programme was also present at the event and organised a quiz about forest animals for the children. All of the children received a Lumi Pin for the planting work they had done.
The tree planting was an educational initiative that created environmental awareness amongst our employees and their children. As a recognition for their work, all participants received their Tree Planting diploma and personally signed the panel showing Rezidor’s involvement.
The planting of 1,700 oak trees is part of the natural yearly management of the Sonian forest and happened under the guidance of the ‘Agentschap Natuur & Bos’ forestry management team. During their lifetime, the trees will offset 1,700 tons of CO2.
The Responsible Business team thanks all participants and looks forward to the 2016 edition!
